20th Annual Gainesville Sports Commission Golf Classic
The Gainesville Sports Commission is hosting their 20th Annual Golf Tournament Saturday, August 1st with an 8:00am Shotgun Start.
This year we are proud to announce our continued association with Beef O’Brady’s and would like to welcome two new partners in WIND-FM/K-Country and Gainesville Television Network (CBS 4, My 11, and NBC).
This being the 20th Anniversary of the tournament, we are offering 20% off all entry fees if golfers sign up at any of the 3 area Beef O’Brady’s restaurants. Hole sponsorships are still available, as well. If you have any questions or would like to sponsor a hole please call 352-338-9300. All players receive Tournament Polo Shirt, Golfer Gift, Goodie Bag, Lunch provided by Beef O’ Brady’s and Complimentary Beverages on the Course.

Event Wrap-Up - Area 7-2009 AAU Track & Field Junior Olympic National Qualifier
The Gainesville Sports Commission (GSC) and the Gainesville Striders hosted the 2009 Area 7 AAU Track & Field Junior Olympic National Qualifier June 25th – 28th at the Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium on the University of Florida campus. This event featured more than 1,400 of the states' up-and-coming track and field athletes and over 1,500 spectators.
The GSC and the Gainesville Striders would like to thank all the Sponsors and Members for a wonderful event! Without your help this event would not have been possible!
This AAU Track event brought in over $556,000 in economic direct spending impact into Alachua County.
Event Wrap-Up - Esynchro Age Group National Age Group Championships
The Gainesville Sports Commission - for the third time - hosted the world’s largest synchronized swimming event for US Synchronized Swimming the Esynchro Age Group Championships held June 27th – July 4th, 2009 in the Stephen C. O’Connell Natatorium on the campus of the University of Florida.
The eight day event had over 1,200 girls from across the nation. The competition featured team, duet, trio, and solo in age groups ranging from 11 – 18. The local synchronized swimming club, the Gainesville Gaviatas, served as the co-hosts with the Gainesville Sports Commission.
The Gainesville Sports Commission was honored to host the US Synchronized Swimming Age Group Championships again and would like to congratulate the Gainesville Gaviatas for finishing in the top 8 in their Age Group Finals!!!
Alachua County was positively impacted by over $1 million dollars in visitor spending and more than 5,000 room nights throughout the week during the event.
