  • 3.6 acre (296,000 sq. ft.) building within a building
  • More than 1,000 people can be simultaneously involved in 9 different recreational activities
  • Used by the University of Florida for classes, intercollegiate sports, general recreation and other entertainment and athletic events
  • Houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool, dance studio, gymnastics studio, martial arts room, free style weight room, Nautilus center, track, volleyball courts, practice basketball courts and a 12,000 seat main arena
  • Seating Capacity:
    • First Level Bleachers: 3,264
    • Second Level Chairbacks: 4,965
    • Third Level Chairbacks: 3, 631

  • 3 levels of seating surround the main arena floor which is 14.5 feet below ground level to take advantage of constant earth temperature
  • 4 scoreboards and in-game statistics boards
  • Retractable bleachers, basketball goals, stage, drop-in wooden basketball and volleyball floors
  • Main arena floor and second level floor are made of synthetic substance that provides cushion for all athletes
    • Level One: Chem-Turf
    • Level Two: Mondo
  • 1999: upgraded concessions, restrooms, entrance ways and added 2 Daktronics Scoreboards
  • $10 million facelift in 2001 included replacing teflon roof with a permanent structure and upgraded sound and shutter lighting systems
  • Theatrical grid supported by roof capable of holding up to 100,000 lbs.
