GSC Executive Director Wins Citizens Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GAINESVILLE, FL – On February 9, 2023 at the Greater Gainesville Chamber’s 99th Annual Meeting – Presented by Seacoast Bank, the Gainesville Sports Commission’s very own Executive Director, Joleen Cacciatore Miller, was awarded the Citizens Award.

“This next award is a special one, because it is not awarded every year, but only when a Greater Gainesville leader makes such an outstanding contribution to our community that it advances the Chamber’s mission in a way that will result in a long-term, positive impact. I am hard pressed to think of a more deserving individual than this year’s winner.

This individual leads a small, but mighty non-profit that brings the thrill of competition to athletes of all ages in our community. Whether it be soccer, basketball, archery, cheer, gymnastics, artistic swimming, BMX or track, this is the group responsible for bringing these competitions to greater Gainesville. With 70 sporting events per year that bring in 20 million dollars in visitor spending and 4 million to our local hotels, our Gainesville Sports Commission punches way above its weight class.  It is my pleasure to present the 2023 Citizen Award to Joleen Cacciatore Miller, Executive Director of the Gainesville Sports Commission” – Eric Godet, Sr., President/CEO of the Greater Gainesville Chamber

On behalf of the GSC Staff and Board of Directors, we here at the Gainesville Sports Commission, are proud to have Joleen as our Executive Director!
