5th Annual Gainesville Indoor Pickleball Showcase Registration is Open!

GAINESVILLE, FL – May 24, 2022 – The Gainesville Sports Commission in partnership with the Legacy Park Multipurpose Center and The City of Alachua is proud to announce the opening of online registration for the 5thAnnual Gainesville Indoor Pickleball Showcase on August 6-7, 2022!

Come out and play at a top tier indoor venue, Legacy Park Multipurpose Center in Alachua, Florida with 40,000 sq. ft. of open space and floating hardwood floors. Games will be played on indoor wood courts with temporary nets and taped courts (tape will be florescent pink).

We welcome participants of all ages and skill level from around the state of Florida and surrounding states to participate in our 5th Annual Indoor Showcase.  Participants will receive an event t-shirt along with the top three teams in each division receiving either a gold, silver, or bronze medal.  The price for this year’s event will be $50.00 for the first event and an additional $5.00 for a second event.

This year, the GSC has partnered with Touching Hearts at Home and will donate $10 from each registration directly to the ElderCare of Alachua County. Proceeds will benefit the following programs at ElderCare of Alachua County:

  • Meals on Wheels: ElderCare of Alachua County offers congregate meal sites and home-delivered meals for seniors. Hot lunch is served at five congregate meal sites throughout Alachua County. Each meal meets one-third of the required daily allowance (RDA) for the senior age group. Come join your friends at a meal site and enjoy a hot meal and socialization. An added benefit to home meal deliveries is the personal contact provided by the volunteer or employee who delivers the meal.
  • Independence with Low Vision: The Independence with Low Vision Program, in partnership with the Florida Division of Blind Services, provides training for adults and seniors who have experienced severe vision loss or blindness to enable them to continue to live safely and independently in their homes, travel safely in the community and improve their quality of life.
  • Al’z Place Adult Daycare Center: Al’z Place provides adult day care for people age 18+ with Alzheimer’s disease or severe memory impairment. The adult program is available five days per week, eight hours per day. Therapeutic activities include physical exercise, active and quiet games, reminiscence, validation therapy, doll therapy, and other failure-free activities. A hot lunch that meets one-third of the Dietary Reference Intake for seniors is provided, as well as two snacks daily.

The 5th Annual Gainesville Pickleball Showcase will be a round robin style event with divisions based on the following rankings: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0/Open. The open division is available for advanced or elite players of all ages and is the most competitive. The rankings will be broken down into the following age groups: 40 & under, 41-60, and 60 & over. The age group in which you will play in is determined by the youngest team members age.  This event is not sanctioned.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, July 20th at 8:00AM.
